Beautiful trees offer tremendous complements to our yards and properties. They are aesthetically pleasing and they offer much needed shade during the hot summer. Plus, they support a thriving ecosystem for a wide variety of species of birds, squirrels, lizards and more.

This multifaceted appeal enhances value when it comes to selling a home. However, it can wreak havoc on a roof if those lovely trees grow too close to the house.

Drone Technology Detects Hard-to-See Roof Damage

After trimming back overgrown limbs that were resting against the roof, the Texan Inspection home inspection team sent one of our inspection drones to examine the structure. The drone footage revealed this previously unseen roof damage. The limbs in contact with the roof had rubbed the protective aggregate off the composition shingles, exposing the tar to sunlight and accelerating shingle deterioration.

Without the help of this advanced drone technology, it would have been difficult to detect and the homeowner would likely have been unaware until the damage was much worse. Repairing a roof can be an expensive project, so it is important to detect roof damage sooner rather than later.

Better Technology = Better Inspections

This is why we invest in state-of-the-art technology. Specialized equipment like drones and infrared thermography give us an advantage. We can dig deeper, see more clearly, and better detect roof and home damage to provide our clients a better home inspection.

Simply put, better technology = better inspections. We’re so sure the technology makes the difference that we automatically include it in every home inspection at no extra cost to our clients.
